Story games / TABLE BANDIT
Fortunately / Unfortunately
Tell one shared story, alternating good news and bad news one sentence at a time.
A good fit for: A cooperative story with a built-in twist on every turn.

How to play Fortunately / Unfortunately
Step 1
Read the opening scene. The first player adds a sentence beginning “Fortunately…”.
Example: Opening: a pigeon became mayor. “Fortunately, it promised free bread.”
Step 2
Tap Next player. The next sentence must begin “Unfortunately…”. Keep alternating, even with an odd number of players.
Example: “Unfortunately, the ducks wanted all the bread.”
Step 3
Continue the same story until you choose End story. New round gives a fresh opening.
Example: Even with three players, Alex’s second turn begins Unfortunately. End the story whenever it feels complete.
Good to know
What happens with an odd number of players?
Keep alternating Fortunately and Unfortunately every turn. Your next sentence may begin differently from your previous one.
Should each turn begin a new story?
Continue the same story, adding one sentence each. Use End story when it feels complete; New round gives a fresh opening.
Bring your friends
Create a room with your name and share its invite link or code. Friends join from their own phones or laptops. If you are apart, use a separate voice or video call; Table Bandit does not provide voice chat. One shared laptop is another option when you can keep private cards and answers hidden from the right players.
You can open a room alone to prepare. Start when the group is ready; if someone joins later, the host can restart with everyone. Use the game’s normal turn controls to finish a match, or New round for a fresh start. Add score records a round winner when you want to keep score.
